Our story

British protocol.
Charleston heart.

The Charleston Society is what happens when a formally trained English etiquette expert and an American product executive decide good manners deserve a modern renaissance.

One of us was trained in the English tradition — protocol, precision, the proper way to pour. The other has spent a career designing experiences people love. Together, that's the whole idea: etiquette that knows where it comes from, delivered like the best evening you've had in years.

The founders

Two crafts, one address

The authority

Margaux

Margaux was raised in Bath, England, trained in London under a former member of The Royal Household of Queen Elizabeth, and founded The School of English Etiquette, where she has coached students on both sides of the Atlantic since 2019.

Before etiquette, a career in law — years as a lawyer at an international firm, where she learned that confidence in a room is a skill, and skills can be taught. She leads every Charleston Society experience in person, with warmth, wit, and the occasional properly settled milk-first debate.

The architect

Mary

Mary is an AI product executive who has spent her career making intimidating things feel effortless — leading products in the world's most demanding industries and designing executive training that turns complex material into confident teams.

At The Charleston Society she brings that same discipline to the table: every program designed around the guest, refined in the real world, and polished until the whole evening feels effortless. A Charlestonian by heart and by address, she is the reason the timing always lands and the place cards are never wrong.

Why we exist

Manners were always meant to be generous

We founded The Charleston Society because we kept watching capable, wonderful people hold back — at the dinner, the interview, the reception — for fear of doing the wrong thing. Etiquette, taught well, removes that fear. It was never a rulebook; it's a way of helping people feel comfortable, confident, and considered.

So we pair the effortless warmth of Charleston hospitality with the quiet polish of British charm — for children finding their footing, teams representing a brand, and every celebration in between. No finger-wagging, no fuss, and rather a lot of blue and white.

And we hold it to a consultancy's standard. The same craft that makes a private dinner unforgettable builds executive presence in a leadership team and five-star warmth in a property's guest experience — programs designed like great products, delivered like great hospitality.
